How much food storage space do you need?

My first blog post What is our biggest Risk I share my concern on a potential long term wide spread power outage. If the power goes out for an extended period, food will be a big problem. This motivated us to get a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer. My wonderful indigenous in laws say 1 year supply of food is ideal. We’ve determined that the optimal post crisis diet would include 12 oz of Ground Bison per person per day. That equals out to about 547 lbs of Bison in about 182 large mason jars. Not sure we have that much space, but we have planned for two pantries and a large, flexible, below grade storage area. I believe Sovereign Homes have adequate long term food storage.

My wife takes freeze dried food with her when she travels.
